Cross-curriculum Reading Scheme Incorporating Value Education
K12 Theatre
Overview
This school recognises the importance of improving students' reading abilities and cultivating their positive values and attitudes. Therefore, in this school year, this school has implemented a cross-curriculum reading scheme in Primary Five, with the concept of integrated framework across subjects, combining English, General Studies, Library, and Personal Growth Education. The entire reading scheme uses Sustainable Development Education in the category of value education as the main learning theme. A series of inside and outside class learning activities are designed, including thematic reading, talks, and visits, aiming to cultivate students' comprehensive use of the knowledge and skills learned from different subjects, and connect them with life cognition, so as to have a broader knowledge base, continuous development of learning ability, and cultivate positive values and an active learning attitude.
The cross-curriculum reading scheme is supported by empirical data to demonstrate the positive impact of integrating cross-curricular learning with values education on student learning outcomes. In addition, it provides the school with practical curriculum design, implementation strategies and pedagogies to further promote more practices related to values education within the school. The results of this scheme can also provide new perspectives and insights into educational practices that integrate cross-curricular learning with values education, thereby encouraging more colleagues to carry out similar teaching practices.
Participants of this seminar will: 1. understand the application and impact of cross-curricular learning in value education; and
2. obtain empirical data from real teaching practice to support the combination of cross-curricular learning and value education
