AI Transforming Learning: Empowering Primary English Writing with Generative AI
AI in Education Theatre
Overview
Today's elementary school teachers are actively exploring how to effectively apply generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology in everyday teaching. This seminar will share insights from this school on enhancing teaching efficiency and student learning outcomes in English writing using free generative AI tools. These tools are utilised to prepare lessons, assist students in reflective and self-directed learning, enhance writing skills, and enable teachers to quickly evaluate student essays and provide rich feedback. The speaker aims to use AI to alleviate teacher workload, thereby freeing up time for one-on-one tutoring and providing students with adaptive learning opportunities, allowing them to learn at their own pace, anytime, anywhere.
Through this project, the speakers have successfully integrated generative AI technology into English writing instruction. There has been a notable improvement in students' writing skills and teachers' work efficiency. Specific outcomes include enhanced student self-reflection, immediacy and quality of teacher feedback, and optimisation of the overall teaching process. This has not only boosted student motivation but also provided more opportunities for personalised instruction. This seminar aims to investigate strategies for leveraging AI technology to improve the quality of teaching and student learning outcomes, as well as to help teachers understand the potential of generative AI in elementary language teaching for effective integration of academic achievements and teaching practices to strengthen teacher-student interactions.
