Taking the Fluffy out of Well-being

Well-being & Inclusive Learning Theatre

Overview

Amid growing concerns about student well-being, schools must shift from reactive measures to proactive, sustainable strategies.

In this seminar at the Learning & Teaching Expo 2024, Dr Vincent Chian, Principal of Fairview International School and Provost of University College Fairview, will reveal how the innovative PROSPER framework places student well-being at the core of education. Unlike other frameworks adapted from corporate settings, PROSPER is specifically designed for schools, focusing holistically on seven key areas: Positivity, Relationships, Outcomes, Strengths, Purpose, Engagement, and Resilience.

Dr Chian will share how Fairview uses a data-driven, student-centered approach to well-being, leveraging Google Forms and Sheets to deliver efficient, real-time insights. This digital system reduces administrative burden, ensuring timely and effective support while prioritising student voices. Central to this strategy is the ‘red flag’ system, which identifies students needing additional attention and triggers timely interventions.

Since adopting the PROSPER framework, Fairview has seen significant improvements in student well-being and academic outcomes. This seminar is designed for school leaders, educators, and counsellors seeking practical, cost-effective strategies to enhance student well-being in their own schools. Participants will leave equipped with tools to implement a robust, data-informed well-being strategy, ensuring that every student thrives in a supportive learning environment.
