Peak & Fearless
K12 Theatre
Overview
The speaker would share the learning journey of leading a team of Primary 5 and 6 students to explore different mountains in Hong Kong over the past two years. The exploration was further expanded to taking the students to hike in the mainland.
The process is based on the theory of experiential learning: unlike traditional teaching approaches, many excellent courses are not necessarily conducted through textbooks or in the classroom. Instead, experiential learning often occurs through interactions between people and various experiences and encounters in life.
Experiential learning content: naturalistic and intentionally created experiential learning; providing opportunities for independent decision-making and comparing new and old experiences; providing, organising, summarising, and suggesting learning opportunities; opportunities for self-evaluation and reflection.
Participants of this seminar will understand:
1. Experiential learning content: naturalistic and intentionally created experiential learning; providing opportunities for independent decision-making and comparing new and old experiences; providing, organising, summarising, and suggesting learning opportunities; opportunities for self-evaluation and reflection;
2. Experiential learning does not end at the early stages of growth and development. Rather, it can be continuously and systematically developed over time; and
3. Children have limitless potential, and nature provides infinite environments for them to learn and grow, facilitating their understanding and respect for the natural world.
