21st Century Classroom

Overview

This open lesson introduces Looker Studio, a free Google tool for data visualisation, to enhance school sports events. Building on the success of a previous presentation for the Education Bureau, the open lesson aims to equip educators with practical skills in data visualisation for school events. The pedagogical approach emphasises hands-on experience, using real-world examples and interactive demonstrations to illustrate Looker Studio's functionality and benefits. Participants will learn to transform raw data into engaging visuals, fostering data-driven decision-making for more effective and engaging school events.

This open lesson showcases a case study, 'The Basel Mission 10,000km Journey', a school-wide virtual walkathon inspired by the founding mission's journey to Hong Kong. Participants will discover how the school utilised Looker Studio to track students' steps, visualise progress, and display competition results dynamically, enhancing engagement and motivation. The open lesson highlights Looker Studio's ability to transform data into compelling visuals, promoting data-driven insights and fostering a more engaging experience for school events.
